(KNSI) – Families new to Oak Ridge Early Learning Center in Sartell will get a chance to meet the school’s new interim principal and tour the building next week over a frozen treat.
Popsicles with the Principal runs Wednesday, August 12th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Oak Ridge Early Learning Center. The come-and-go event is open to incoming families, families still deciding where to enroll their child and returning families who want to say hello before the school year starts. Popsicle flavors will include grape, cherry and orange.
Robert Geisenhof takes over as interim principal at Oak Ridge this school year. He is entering his second year in the Sartell-St. Stephen School District after serving last year as assistant principal at Riverview Intermediate School, which serves grades three through five.
Along with meeting Geisenhof, families can tour a kindergarten classroom, a preschool classroom, the gym, cafeteria, playground and media center. Community partners will run a couple of activities in the gym.
“I’d love to be able to welcome families, and I thought this was a nice way to be able to do that in kind of more of an informal setting,” Geisenhof said.
He says getting children into the building a few times before the first day, with the adults in their lives alongside them, can build some comfort ahead of the transition, particularly for students starting school for the first time.
Oak Ridge is still accepting preschool and kindergarten enrollments for the 2026-27 school year.
