(KNSI) — Residents of Benton, Sherburne and Stearns counties have a chance to clear out their closets and storage spaces by recycling worn, torn or no longer needed clothes, shoes, linens and other home fabrics.
On Saturday, August 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Tri-County Solid Waste Commission and Retold Recycling will host a free textile recycling event at the Stearns County Service Center at 3301 County Road 138 in Waite Park.
Community members can drop off as many items as they wish. Accepted items include clothing, bras, socks and underwear, towels, cloth and rags, household textiles, dog toys and stuffed toys, shoes and bed linens. The event cannot accept anything unwashed, carpets and rugs, industrial workwear, pillows and cushion inners or garments coated in paint or oil. Event organizers reserve the right to reject items not accepted by Retold Recycling.
All accepted materials will be responsibly recycled, helping reduce the more than 11 million tons of textiles that end up in U.S. landfills each year.
Drivers should enter the Service Center parking lot from County Road 138 and exit via 33rd Avenue South, following on-site signage.
The event is free for all residents of Benton, Sherburne and Stearns counties. Those with questions can contact the Tri-County Solid Waste Commission at 320-257-8606.
