(KNSI) — The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office has launched a new smartphone app to connect with residents and visitors.
Sheriff Steve Soyka says the app is meant to help the office communicate with the public and assist them more quickly, noting that nearly everyone carries a smartphone and relies on it to get information. The app lets users submit tips, get alerts, check weather conditions and learn more about the Sheriff’s Office in real time.
It also offers access to some of the office’s most-requested information, including jail, inmate and warrant details along with civil process information. Soyka says users can pull up gun permit application documents and start the process before ever coming in, which the office says will save time.
The app was developed by TheSheriffApp.com, a brand of OCV, LLC, which builds mobile apps for sheriff’s offices and public safety agencies around the country.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office app is free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
