(KNSI) — Stearns County has a new administrator.

The Board of Commissioners appointed Andrew Letson to the position Friday. For the past five years, he has served as county administrator in Meeker County. Before that, he worked as assistant director and later director of public works for two Chicago-area suburbs.

A veteran of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, Letson deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He holds a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in local government management from Northern Illinois University.

Letson begins October 26th, replacing Mike Williams, who announced in March he would step down after ten years in the role.

In his retirement letter, Williams wrote that working with such a dedicated and talented group has been an honor and the highlight of his 40-year career. He added that he is grateful for the chance to serve the community and will always hold a special place in his heart for Stearns County and the greater St. Cloud area.
