(KNSI) – Mongo’s Grill has reopened in St. Cloud, shortly after the City Council cleared the way for its return by approving the transfer of its liquor license.
The restaurant is now open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 3701 West Division Street suite 103, the same location the original Mongo’s occupied before it closed in 2024.
The comeback is led by a local ownership group headed by Jim Howard, a part-owner of the new restaurant and former general manager of the original Mongo’s. Howard told the council during a public hearing on the license transfer that the prior ownership’s only role was allowing the new group to use the Mongo’s name. He stated customers can expect the same menu and experience they remember.
At the time of the hearing, Howard said the restaurant had 75 to 80 staff members, mostly part-time, a mix of new hires and returning employees from the original Mongo’s. Council members also asked about outstanding gift cards from the previous location. Howard said the new ownership group was in contact with the prior owners and would try to work out arrangements for customers still holding them.
Mongo’s Grill closed its original St. Cloud location in 2024 after its parent company shut it down. HuHot Mongolian Grill later moved into the space before announcing its own closure on May 25th.
