(KNSI) – State agents raided a St. Cloud business on Tuesday afternoon as part of a Medicaid fraud investigation.
Agents with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were seen carrying boxes out of Credent Care, located at 2719 West Division Street, on Tuesday, July 14th.
Brian Evans, press secretary for the Attorney General’s Office, confirmed to KNSI that a search warrant was executed at the business.
“I can confirm this was a warrant executed by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office and the BCA and is related to a Medicaid fraud investigation,” Evans said.
No charges have been filed in connection with the raid, and it is unclear what specific allegations investigators are pursuing.
According to its website, Credent Care provides personalized mental health support, housing support, and in-home services.
The BCA told KNSI it was assisting the Attorney General’s Office and referred all questions about the investigation to that agency.
The raid comes amid a broader crackdown on Medicaid fraud by Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office. In April, the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and federal law enforcement executed search warrants at five sites tied to four businesses billing Medicaid through the state’s Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention program.
In May, Ellison’s office worked with the FBI and federal health investigators on indictments against several providers accused of billing Medicaid for services that were never delivered, and in June, the unit charged seven providers with more than $700,000 in Medicaid fraud as part of a national health care fraud takedown.
Since 2019, the Attorney General’s Office says it has convicted more than 300 people of Medicaid fraud and recovered more than $90 million in judgments and restitution for the state. Also in May, Governor Tim Walz signed the Medical Assistance Protection Act, which expands the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and gives it stronger legal tools to prosecute fraud cases.
