(KNSI) – An emergency water main break has shut down a stretch of Pine Cone Road in Sartell for about a week while crews complete repairs.

Pine Cone Road is closed between 5th Street North and 2½ Street North starting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8th, and continuing through approximately 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14th.

City officials say an underground water main broke beneath the roadway. Because Pine Cone Road is concrete, crews must dig through the pavement to locate and repair the break, then pour new concrete and allow it to cure before the road can safely reopen to traffic. That process is expected to keep the road closed for several days.

Drivers are asked to follow the posted detour, which routes traffic from 5th Street North to 9th Avenue North and back to 2½ Street North. The city says the detour runs through residential neighborhoods and is asking drivers to slow down and watch for children and pedestrians.

The City of Sartell is asking residents to help spread the word about the closure so drivers can plan ahead and avoid delays.
