(KNSI) – The St. Cloud City Council will consider a resolution Monday establishing new parking restrictions along 15th Avenue South near South Junior High School.

The restrictions are aimed at improving safety during student pickup and drop-off times. The proposal would prohibit parking along both sides of 15th Avenue South between 11th and 15th Street South, with signs reading “No Parking 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. School Days.”

The request originated with the St. Cloud Police Department, which raised safety concerns about the area during school arrival and dismissal periods. City Engineer Zac Borgerding and Public Services Director Luke Langner reviewed the request before recommending the restriction.

The council will take up the item during its regular meeting Monday, July 6th, at 6:00 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall. The item is listed on the council’s consent agenda, which means it can be adopted without public comment or a second hearing. It won’t be discussed unless a council member pulls it from the consent agenda.

Property owners and residents who want to weigh in before the vote have a couple of options: email city.clerk@ci.stcloud.mn.us by 3:15 p.m. on July 6th, or mail a letter to the City Clerk’s office at 1201 7th Street South, St. Cloud, MN 56301.

Questions about the proposal can be directed to Borgerding at 320-255-7243.
