(KNSI) – St. Cloud Park & Recreation is partnering with several local public safety agencies to give area residents a chance to cast a line alongside the people who protect the community.
“Badges & Bobbers” is set for Friday, July 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lake George Boathouse. The event is free and open to the public. No registration required.
Joining Park & Recreation for the event are the St. Cloud Police Department, St. Cloud Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 464, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Organizers say the morning is designed to be a relaxed, low-pressure way for families to meet local officers, firefighters and deputies outside of a typical emergency response setting. Attendees can expect fishing tips from experienced anglers among the participating agencies, plus casual conversation with the first responders on hand.
Anyone planning to attend is welcome to bring their own rod and tackle, but it isn’t required. Event organizers will have gear available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
One requirement organizers are asking families to keep in mind is that anyone age 16 or older needs a valid Minnesota fishing license. Licenses can be purchased online through the Minnesota DNR or at local retailers.
