(KNSI) – Two Texas brothers have pleaded guilty to their roles in an armed home invasion in Minnesota that netted more than $8 million in stolen cryptocurrency.
U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen announced Thursday that 25-year-old Isiah Angelo Garcia and 24-year-old Raymond Christian Garcia, both of Waller, Texas, each pleaded guilty to one count of Interference with Commerce by Robbery.
According to court documents, the brothers traveled from Texas to Minnesota to carry out the scheme. On the morning of September 19th, 2025, they kidnapped a man and his family at gunpoint inside their Grant home. The defendants demanded access to the victim’s cryptocurrency accounts, zip-tied the family and held them at gunpoint for more than eight hours.
The Garcias then abducted the victim and drove him to the family’s cabin in northern Minnesota, where he was forced to retrieve additional cryptocurrency storage devices and transfer the funds. In total, the brothers forced the victim to transfer more than $8 million in cryptocurrency.
The family’s son called 911, causing the Garcias to flee. Investigators say the brothers left numerous items behind at the home, which law enforcement used to identify them and track them to the Houston area, where they were arrested.
Both men admitted to using firearms to threaten the victims and carry out the robbery. They have agreed to pay more than $8 million in restitution, and each face a maximum of 20 years in federal prison. Sentencing hearings will be scheduled later.
