(KNSI) -The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to reconstruct the northbound Highway 15 bridge that carries traffic over eastbound Highway 10 in Benton County.

The $7.5 million project will replace the aging structure, resurface the roadway up to the bridge approaches and install a new bridge guardrail, according to MnDOT. The agency said additional updates may be made as needed.

Prep work with minimal traffic impacts is expected to begin this fall, with major construction following in 2027. MnDOT expects work to take a year and finish in the fall of 2027.

The bridge sits along Highway 15 north of Sauk Rapids, between County Road 29 and Highway 10. Nearby communities affected include Sartell, Sauk Rapids Township and St. Cloud.

MnDOT said the new bridge is built to last 60-plus years and will improve access and safety while providing a smoother ride for drivers.
