(KNSI) – Minnesota hunters have until Tuesday, July 7, to apply for one of 12 elk licenses issued annually by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Elk licenses will be available to hunters across three hunt zones and seven seasons. Seasons A through F will run Saturday, September 12, through Sunday, September 20. Season G will run Saturday, September 26, through Sunday, October 4. Each season corresponds to a specific zone and license type, with three either-sex licenses offered in Seasons A, C and E. The remaining nine will be allocated as antlerless licenses.
Elk hunters are strongly encouraged to review hunt zones, dates and seasons, as well as maps with updated hunt zone boundaries. A full list of details can be found on the DNR elk hunting page.
Hunters must apply through the DNR’s electronic licensing system. Those applying for a landowner license must first create a land profile and meet eligibility requirements. Instructional videos and frequently asked questions are available on the DNR’s buy-a-license webpage.
