(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Area School District 742’s PAKRAT Roll and Read book bus is hitting the road for the summer to spread the joy of reading throughout the community.
PAKRAT is a partnership between District 742 and the Local Activities and Education Foundation. The goal is to keep every child reading to prevent the summer slide.
The bus runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and is open to kids of any age from birth through eighth grade. Students can hop on board, pick out a book to borrow at no charge and return it to the bus when they’re done.
On Mondays, the bus will be at Madison Elementary, St. Cloud Area Family YMCA, Westwood Elementary, Lake George, Roosevelt Boys & Girls Club, and Eastside Boys & Girls Club. Tuesdays, the bus stops at Lincoln Elementary, Eastside Community Outpost, 10-10 Community Outpost, Southside Community Outpost, Southside Boys & Girls Club, and Seberger Park. On Wednesdays, it stops at Discovery Community School, Kennedy Community School, Bel Clare Estates, Oak Hill Community School, and back at Discovery Community School.
The first stop begins at 10:15 a.m. and the final stop at 1:25 p.m. Routes run through the end of July.
There will be no routes from June 29th through July 3rd.
