St. Cloud Man in Custody After Fleeing Police in Monticello

(KNSI) – A 36-year-old St. Cloud man is in custody after allegedly fleeing from authorities in Monticello yesterday evening.

Minnesota State Patrol troopers responded to a gun-pointing incident at 6:53 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, on I-94 near County Road 18 in Monticello. A trooper located the suspect driving a red Ford Edge westbound on I-94 and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect failed to yield and fled.

Troopers and local law enforcement deployed spike strips during the pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle exited at County Road 75 before State Patrol used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle near 32nd Street. The suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to Wright County Jail on suspicion of fleeing police in a motor vehicle, second-degree assault and possession of narcotics. The incident remains under investigation.
