(KNSI) – Stearns County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Chad Meemken has been named the Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence Minnesota Instructor of the Year.
Meemken serves on the resource Officer team covering the Holdingford and Albany Area school districts, where he teaches L.E.A.D’s prevention curriculum. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the annual award recognizes an officer’s work in the classroom and in mentoring students.
L.E.A.D trains law enforcement officers to teach a drug- and violence-prevention curriculum in schools and other settings where kids gather.
School Resource Officers are assigned to school districts to provide security and serve as a point of contact between students and law enforcement.
