(KNSI) – The Sartell City Council is looking to approve the final plans for its North Water Treatment Plant project at its upcoming Monday meeting.

The city originally conducted a comprehensive condition assessment of the plant in 2021. The assessment found that while the plant, built in 2001, was still in good condition for its age, targeted improvements were necessary to maintain its reliability and extend its useful life. Among the issues found in the assessment were deteriorating filter performance, aging HVAC systems, coating system failures and the need for security improvements.

The council will look at approving construction costs of $2,404,500 and contingency costs of $233,300. It previously approved non-construction project costs totaling $359,200, including preliminary and final designs, bidding, and construction services. The project’s total cost is $2,997,900, with funding to be provided through debt issuance as part of the Series 2026A bond sale, which was completed in April.

The project has been incorporated into the city’s approved 2026 budget along with the most recently approved Financial Management Plan, with implementation anticipated over the next year.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, at Sartell City Hall.
