(KNSI) – The city of Sauk Rapids has opened the doors on its 2025 annual financial report, allowing residents to see exactly how the city spent taxpayer dollars. The city’s financial report highlights several areas of interest, including its general, enterprise and debt funds, and whether these areas have increased or decreased in value.
For 2025, revenue from the city’s general fund totaled $9,537,703, representing an increase of 8.3 percent from 2024. The city spent most of its funds on public safety, where expenditures increased by $302,138. The city noted that this increase was due to higher salaries and benefits resulting from pay increases, as well as the city’s police department being fully staffed for most of the year.
The city’s liquor fund reported a decrease in sales of $156,770. In contrast, operating revenues and expenses in the water fund increased by $107,344 and $175,515, respectively, driven by higher rates and usage.
Operating revenues from the sewer fund increased by $93,694, driven by higher rates, while operating expenses increased by $257,704. The latter’s increase was due to higher administrative salaries allocated to the fund in 2025, as well as higher treatment costs paid to the city of St. Cloud.
Storm water funds fell by $22,918, while operating expenses decreased by $91,299 due to lower repair costs. Operating revenues and expenses for the street light fund increased by $682 and $35,182, respectively, driven by higher electric utility costs and depreciation on capital assets.
