(KNSI) – The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste truck will be in Melrose on Wednesday to safely collect household hazardous waste items that residents cannot dispose of in the trash.
The truck will stop at the Melrose Fire Department (405 N. 2nd Ave. SE) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 20. It is then scheduled to stop at St. Anthony Church (24326 Trobec St.) in Albany from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 27.
The truck will accept a wide variety of hazardous waste items, including pesticides, fluorescent bulbs, pool chemicals, roofing tar and paint thinners. Residents unsure whether an item can be recycled, composted or dropped off should use the county’s online Waste Wizard tool. The program is designed for household items only.
A full list of accepted items can be found here. Those unable to attend either event may drop off items at the Waite Park facility, which accepts donations year-round.
