(KNSI) – Waite Park will see a brand-new transit facility coming along 2nd Avenue South sometime next year. The facility will be designed to augment the city’s current Metro Bus Transit Center and its overall system, as part of new routes and service improvements known as Metro Bus Forward.

Caroline Miller, an assistant director with MnDOT’s Office of Transit and Active Transportation, said the new facility will represent a major commitment to strengthening statewide transit access.

“It’s going to make better use of existing resources, offer more services and ultimately better serve the communities. We know that St. Cloud Metro Bus is very thoughtful and careful with the design to ensure that the facility is working for all users, including those who are using paratransit, with improvements like ADA design, wayfinding and safety.”

Timing for both the facility’s grand opening and Metro Bus Forward service changes has yet to be announced.
