(KNSI) – Families looking for an outdoor adventure can head to Quarry Park & Nature Preserve later this month for the annual Kids To Parks Day celebration.
Stearns County Parks is hosting the free event on Saturday, May 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1802 County Road 137 in Waite Park. Parking is free for the day.
The event offers a wide range of hands-on activities aimed at getting children outside and engaged with nature. Attendees can identify aquatic creatures, make a bird feeder, try their casting skills by fishing, and take part in a Touch-A-Truck event. Other activities include RC racing and rock climbing.
The Midwest Peregrine Society will hold showings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and the Audubon Society will lead guided bird hikes at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Quarry Park & Nature Preserve covers more than 680 acres and features swimming quarries, hiking trails, and rock climbing areas.
