(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Area School District will break ground on its new APEX Athletics Center next week.

The ceremony is set for Tuesday, May 5th at 2:00 p.m. on the Apollo High School campus.

The 70,000-square-foot, $15 million indoor facility is designed for year-round use and will feature a full-size turf field, batting cages, golf simulators, and a walking track. It will accommodate sports including soccer, football, lacrosse, softball, baseball, and golf, and will be available for both district teams and community use.

The project is funded through a voter-approved referendum that passed in April of 2025 with support from 54% of voters.

The school board finalized the center’s name in recent months. The word “Apex” was chosen to reflect both the building’s height and the goal of reaching peak athletic achievement.
