(KNSI) – Minnesota is the 7th most environmentally friendly state in the nation, according to WalletHub.
In its ranking, Minnesota places 5th for environmental quality, 7th for eco-friendly behaviors and is in a five-way tie with Michigan, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Washington for the highest soil quality in the nation.
The state is 14th for its air quality and 15th for its percentage of renewable energy use. Minnesota is more middle-of-the-road in some areas, like water quality, ranking 26th, and placing 27th for gasoline consumption per capita.
The three greenest states in the union, in order, are Vermont, New York and Massachusetts. The bottom three are Mississippi, Louisiana and West Virginia.
