(KNSI) – Minnesota’s Seventh District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach has been named a Small Business Deduction Champion by the National Federation of Independent Business.

The nation’s largest small business advocacy organization says the award recognizes members of Congress who helped secure a permanent 20% Small Business Deduction as part of recent federal tax legislation. The deduction applies to more than 33 million small business owners nationwide. NFIB believes by making the cut permanent, it gives business owners the long-term certainty needed to grow, hire, and invest in their communities.

“Making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent was a landmark victory for America’s small business owners, and a culmination of numerous years of hard work,” said NFIB President Brad Close. “We are proud to recognize the lawmakers who paved the way for small business owners to keep more of their hard-earned money and continue creating jobs, growing their operations, and investing in their communities.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of rural communities,” said Rep. Fischbach. “Ensuring that our business owners can keep more of what they earn empowers our Main Streets to grow, hire, and invest back into our neighborhoods. I am honored to receive this recognition and will continue to be a voice for our small business community.”
