(KNSI) – The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office has announced registration is open for several youth safety certification courses covering ATV riding and snowmobile operation.

The courses use a hybrid format, allowing students to complete an online portion on their own before attending an in-person field day, making them flexible for families with busy schedules.
The ATV Safety course fulfills Minnesota’s certification requirement for youth riders. Five field days are scheduled across the region:

Sauk Centre – April 26, 2026
Albany – May 16, 2026
Albany – August 15, 2026
Watkins – September 19, 2026
Sauk Centre – September 20, 2026

Two Snowmobile Safety field days are also on the schedule. This course prepares young riders for safe operation and fulfills certification requirements ahead of the riding season. Registration is already open, though the events are still months away:

Sauk Centre – December 6, 2026
Watkins – January 9, 2027

Spots in all courses are limited and tend to fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged. To sign up for ATV classes, click here, and for snowmobile, click here.

Note: All registration slots for the Hunter Education and Firearms Safety course are full.
