(KNSI) – Registration for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ I Can! outdoor skills program opens March 20th.
The I Can! programs are aimed at beginners and families, offering free or low-cost instruction in camping, archery, paddling, mountain biking, and fishing. All equipment is provided.
The Archery in the Parks program provides hands-on instruction from certified archers teaching participants how to shoot a bow and arrow. The program is open to ages eight and up.
The I Can Camp! program includes a one- or two-night stay in a state park campground or group camping area. Campers are provided with a tent, air mattresses, a cookstove, and other gear, with DNR staff on hand day and night for instruction and support.
The I Can Fish! program is designed for new and first-time anglers. Participants receive hands-on instruction from experienced fishermen and get to take home a small tackle box.
I Can Mountain Bike! takes place at Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area in Ironton. The DNR says that if you can ride a bike on pavement, you can handle mountain biking. No prior trail experience needed.
