(KNSI) — Governor Tim Walz has ordered flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings in honor of a White Bear Lake soldier killed overseas.
Sergeant First Class Nicole M. Amor died March 1st in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. She was one of six American service members killed in an incident that remains under investigation by the Department of Defense.
Amor was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command and was serving in support of U.S. military operations when the strike occurred. She enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 2005 before transferring to the Army Reserve in 2006, and had previously deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019. She served for more than 20 years in logistics operations.
Walz called Amor’s life one marked by service, courage, and selflessness, and extended condolences to her family.
Flags will remain at half-staff through the day of interment. Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to lower their flags as well.
She leaves behind her husband, Joey and their two kids.
