(KNSI) — A St. Cloud man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading officers on a foot chase late Wednesday night.
According to the criminal complaint, around 10:45, St. Cloud Police tried to stop a car near 9th Street South and 11th Avenue South with no lights on. An officer saw the driver, identified in court documents as 21-year-old Abdulaziz Hussein, make a right turn and drive into a fence at a slow rate of speed. Hussein then got out and fled on foot. He was caught and tried to run again, but an officer used their taser to subdue him. Hussein continued to try to wiggle away. He had slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and couldn’t comprehend simple commands.
Court papers say a search of his car turned up a loaded handgun on the driver’s side floorboard, along with open containers of whiskey and ammunition. Hussein doesn’t have a permit to carry and was driving on a revoked license.
Hussein was charged with second degree DWI, second degree DWI test refusal, possession of a firearm without a permit, fleeing police on foot, obstruction, and open container violations.
His 18-year-old passenger, Isabella Marie Ross-Strand of Graceville, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol.
