(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Area School District is inviting the public to come and take part in its Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration next week.
The Chinese Immersion Program will host its annual event on Friday, February 20th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Madison Elementary School. The gathering honors the Year of the Horse and is free and open to the public.
The celebration will feature student performances, including a presentation with Deema Cheng’s Kung Fu Studio. Attendees can participate in interactive activities such as calligraphy, chopsticks practice, karaoke, tea tasting and printmaking.
A silent auction will also take place during the event, with proceeds supporting the Chinese Immersion eighth-grade capstone trip to China planned for this summer. Eighth-grade students will serve as volunteers.
Food will be available for purchase.
The Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations in Chinese culture and marks the start of a new year based on the lunar calendar.
