(KNSI) — Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth issued a statement in response to Tuesday’s precinct caucus results showing her leading among all GOP candidates for governor.

She thanked her supporters who came out and “delivered an excellent result for our campaign. This is just the first step in the process, but tonight shows that momentum is behind the Demuth-Wilson ticket.”

In November 2025, the Cold Spring Republican chose attorney Ryan Wilson as her running mate. Wilson ran for state auditor in 2022. He lives in Maple Grove with his wife and four children.

Demuth says Minnesotans are “looking for a strong conservative and proven leader to get our state back on track after two disastrous terms of Tim Walz. We know Amy Klobuchar would give us nothing more than a rubber-stamp Walz third term.”

She promised to continue traveling the state and conversing with delegates to earn support in the run-up to the statewide endorsement convention in Duluth in May, “and beat Amy Klobuchar this November.”

Klobuchar announced her candidacy last week.
