(KNSI) – Two people were arrested Sunday night for allegedly stealing from a building in Maywood Township.
A press release from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office says the suspects were caught on surveillance camera by the owner of an abandoned building on the 16000 block of Ironwood Road NE at about 9:45. They arrived in a pair of vehicles, parked at the Oak Park Creamery next door, and headed inside. A deputy called to the scene located the vehicles, a 2008 Volkswagen and a 2012 BMW. As the deputy and his K9 searched for the suspects, both vehicles fled the scene.
A Foley Police officer spotted the Volkswagen and pulled it over on 13th Avenue inside the city limits. The driver, an 18-year-old man from St. Cloud, was taken into custody. Investigators contacted the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office and had deputies pick up a 17-year-old who lived at the BMW’s registered owner’s home.
Deputies say they have evidence from inside the building that the two were trying to steal property.
Both face charges of burglary, trespassing and fleeing a police officer.
KNSI News does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged.
