(KNSI) – The 15-year-old passenger injured in a crash in St. Cloud last week has died from his injuries.

The child was a freshman at St. Cloud Tech High School. According to police, first responders were called around 7:30 on Tuesday night, November 4th, to the intersection of County Road 75 and Traverse Road.

Investigators say 20-year-old Cooper Wente, of St. Cloud, was heading south on County Road 75 with a green light when 22-year-old Anwar Kahin, also of St. Cloud, turned left in front of him.

The front-seat passenger in Kahin’s vehicle, a 15-year-old St. Cloud boy, was found unconscious and not breathing at the scene. Officers and St. Cloud Fire Department personnel began life-saving measures before he was taken to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital and later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he later died.

A 19-year-old woman in Kahin’s back seat was pinned inside and had to be cut free from the vehicle. She was taken to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers and the 19-year-old woman were later released. Kahin was cited for failure to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic.

Police say the investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
