(KNSI) – St. Cloud officials are inviting local artists to submit artwork for a new initiative that aims to transform utility boxes and public spaces throughout downtown into an outdoor gallery.
The St. Cloud Art Wraps program aims to enhance the city’s visual appeal by featuring locally created artwork reproduced on vinyl wraps. The initiative is designed to improve downtown walkability and showcase the talent of regional artists. This program also addresses a recent challenge, as it’s meant to deter graffiti. Last spring, downtown St. Cloud was hit by a rash of vandalism. Two people were eventually arrested, and the number of incidents declined sharply.
Those living in Stearns, Benton, and Sherburne counties are eligible to submit work in any medium, provided it can be converted to a digital file for printing. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend per image, covering both the use of their artwork and the time spent on digital formatting.
Artists may submit up to five ideas in digital format, including JPG, PDF, AI, or EPS files. Each submission must include the artist’s contact information, the title and medium for each work, and a brief artist statement describing their work and process.
A selection panel will evaluate submissions based on the quality of work samples and the artist’s ability to translate their work into digital format. All submissions should be emailed to arts@ci.stcloud.mn.us by Tuesday, November 25th, at 4:00 p.m.
Artists will be notified of their selection status by Tuesday, December 16th.
