(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Area School District 742’s Local Education and Activities Foundation announced the fall edition of its annual Adopt-a-Classroom project raised $52,000. That was enough to help 202 classrooms.

According to a press release from LEAF, teachers typically spend between $610 and $895 of their own money each year to make sure their students have what they need to start the year off on the right foot. That includes essentials like pencils, notebooks, and markers, plus specialty items like sheet music and science kits. LEAF helps bridge that gap to provide students with better learning opportunities.

While many teachers have already been matched with donors, 58 classrooms are still waiting for support. A donation of $14,500 would fully fund every remaining classroom request. LEAF leaders say teachers have great ideas to help their students have excellent opportunities, but financial constraints are often what’s holding them back.
