(KNSI) — Now that Halloween has passed, the Great River Children’s Museum in St. Cloud is asking families to donate their children’s costumes instead of letting them gather dust in the closet.
The museum will store donated costumes throughout the year and make them available to local kids next Halloween season. According to organizers, the program aims to help kids who might not otherwise be able to afford a costume to experience the fun and excitement of dressing up for the holiday. Along with costumes, the museum is also looking for storage totes and bins to keep everything organized until next year’s giveaway event.
Families can drop off new or gently used costumes at the museum located at 110 8th Avenue South in St. Cloud during regular operating hours through Sunday, November 16th. The museum is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with extended hours until 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays.
Donated costumes should be clean, in good condition, and labeled with the appropriate age range or size to help with sorting. The museum is also seeking volunteers to help wash, sort, and pack the donated costumes. Those interested can fill out a volunteer application on the museum’s website.
