(KNSI) – Three central Minnesota locations act as pop-up grocery stores once per month, selling discounted packs of fresh produce and meat.
The Fare For All program could act as a substitute for working class families unsure about SNAP benefit availability with one of the sales taking place next week. Fare For All uses a co-op model to buy from wholesalers in bulk, meaning the more people participating, the better the savings.
They are selling their Mega Meat Pack for $25, which contains six to eight frozen meat items like chicken, turkey, pork, beef, or fish. The Produce Pack runs $10 and features two to three fresh fruits and up to four fresh vegetables. This month’s pack contains five pounds of russet potatoes, two pounds of yellow onions, one pound of carrots, two beets, three navel oranges and Fuji apples, and a pair of lemons. Right now, two pounds of delicata squash are available for only $5.
Resurrection Lutheran Church in St. Joseph will welcome shoppers from 3:30 to 5:30 on Monday, November 3rd. Salem Lutheran Church in the east end of St. Cloud has one on the 10th. Atonement Lutheran Church also holds monthly Fare For All markets. Their next one is scheduled for December 11th.
