(KNSI) – Records are meant to be broken, and for Cathedral Varsity Boys’ Soccer’s Jacob Oliver, he’s happy to tack on to his unprecedented career. This time, it is on the game’s biggest stage.

Oliver scored four times as the Crusaders raced past Cristo Rey Jesuit 6-2 in the Class A quarterfinal round. Entering the tournament, he had already secured the all-time Minnesota State High School League mark for single-season goals in 2025, along with career goals and career points. Cathedral is the three seed and moves on to the semis next Tuesday at U.S. Bank Stadium, where they’ll play Stewartville.

The Cathedral girls are also the three seed in Class A for their state tournament. They played at Spring Lake Park High School right after the boys wrapped up Thursday night and also got the win. They eked past St. Paul Academy and Summit School, 1-0. The girls’ squad gets #2 Watertown-Mayer on Wednesday indoors.

Sartell also sent both the boys’ and girls’ teams to the state tournament. They each lost in the Class AA quarterfinals. The boys did so in heartbreaking fashion, conceding a goal with three seconds remaining against Northfield.
