(KNSI) — Utility work near where the former First United Methodist Church is being converted into a drug rehabilitation facility has closed down about two blocks of 5th Avenue South.
The work is affecting a stretch from 3rd Street South to 4th Street South. The City Engineer’s Office is now expecting the shut down to run for three weeks until November 7th. Crews have also closed 3rd Street between 4th and 5th Avenues. A detour sees traffic being diverted over to 6th Avenue around the Cloud on 5th apartment complex. 5th Avenue is considered the gateway between the St. Cloud State University campus and the city’s historic downtown. The area tends to see decent traffic, whether that is vehicles or pedestrians.
The work is weather dependent.
