(KNSI) — The Chain of Lakes County Park in Cold Spring is now open for public hunting.
The park allows shotgun hunting for small game, turkey, and waterfowl, as well as archery and crossbow hunting for deer. Rifles, rifled shotguns, and buckshot are prohibited.
All hunters must have a valid hunting permit for that park and a license from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, both of which must be carried at all times. Hunters can get a free permit by clicking here. Permits are also available at the entrance to the park or at the Stearns County Park Office at the Waite Park Service Center.
Hunters are asked to participate in a post-hunt survey to report harvests, wildlife status within the park, and other observations. They can do so by clicking here.
An interactive map of the park can be found here.
Park ordinances can be found here.
The park is already open to the public for other activities.
