(KNSI) – The Great River Children’s Museum is bringing back its popular Game Night Gala for a second year, featuring a new classic board game theme.
Great River Children’s Museum Vice President of Development Kelly Doss sat down with KNSI News to talk about the change in motif. “Last year’s gala was to help us get the doors open. We had a fun Chutes and Ladders theme, but now that we’re open we’re doing a different game. And this year, it’s a Monopoly theme. It’s Pass Go and G-O stand for grand opening.” The museum opened on June 10th.
The event will feature interactive elements inspired by the classic board game, including a life-size jail cell in the middle of the venue. Attendees can purchase “community connection cards” based on the museum’s community connections exhibit, which may assign tasks or send guests to jail.
The evening will also include a silent auction, table activities featuring game pieces from museum exhibits, and a live band. Attendees will also hear testimonials and learn about the museum’s impact since opening a few months ago.
Doss explained proceeds will support important initiatives like the Museums for All program, which offers reduced rates for families on EBT and WIC, as well as field trips and programming materials. Doss said last year’s event was a huge success that exceeded expectations. ‘We had actually had a lot of people say this is different than other fundraisers they’ve attended,” she said, adding that the uniqueness is what people are really looking forward to again.
She admitted it will be a challenge to top last but believes they have a plan to help them knock it out of the park.
The Pass Go gala is scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, at Granite Innovations. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the event starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the museum or online. The deadline to get them is October 22nd, and the cost is $125 per person.
