(KNSI) – St. Cloud is now home to a new therapy clinic for diagnosing and treating young children on the autism spectrum.

According to a press release, Caravel Autism Health’s new facility will be staffed by childhood autism experts who specialize in Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA therapy. That method uses positive reinforcement to help kids with autism improve skills like communication and social interaction.

Caravel CEO Mike Miller explained that changing lives is at the heart of what they do. “Our mission at Caravel Autism Health is to change lives. We change lives by providing much-needed ABA therapy that helps children reach their full potential. We’ve made a commitment to invest in communities like St. Cloud so that we can ensure resources of the highest quality are present for local families.”

The new clinic features colorful, sensory-friendly spaces where children work one-on-one with therapists to build skills, develop confidence, and learn to connect with the world around them. Caravel offers a full range of services including diagnostic evaluation, therapy, family support, and counseling.

It’s located at 226 Park Avenue South.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now estimates that 1 in 31 children is on the autism spectrum. Clinic Director Viktoriya Zorchenko, MS, BCBA, says early intervention is key to achieving the best outcomes and creates “lasting, positive change for both children on the spectrum and their families.”
