(KNSI) – The Stearns County Board of Commissioners is taking the show on the road for their meeting on October 7th.
The group traditionally gathers inside the Administration Building at Courthouse Square in downtown St. Cloud, but the next session has been scheduled for Cold Spring. The time is also being changed to make it more accessible for the public. Rather than the customary 9:00 a.m. start, the meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Cold Spring City Hall.
The effort has been a signature issue for Board Chair Jeff Bertram. He says, “By moving this meeting to the evening and into the heart of Cold Spring, we’re making it easier for more residents to attend, engage, and share their perspectives.” Betram adds, “This is part of our broader effort to ensure that county government is transparent, responsive, and connected to the people it serves.”
Cold Spring is nearly 20 miles southwest of St. Cloud, which still puts it in the eastern third of Stearns County. Still, it is a more centralized and accessible location than St. Cloud, which is located on the border of Benton and Sherburne Counties.
The October 7th meeting will follow a traditional format for the board of commissioners. Additionally, the public can sign up for a comment forum to address any issue they feel is important in the half hour before the meeting begins. It is set to run from 5:30 to 6:00.
