(KNSI) — For more than three decades, Sartell High School has maintained a beloved tradition that brings the entire school community together, and that will continue next week.
The annual Student Council Carnival is scheduled for Wednesday, featuring game booths from local businesses, National Guard inflatables, the ever-popular teacher dunk tank, and a powder puff football game between juniors and seniors.
Karie Fredrickson, a 31-year veteran social studies teacher who serves as student council and honor society advisor, explains that what began as a modest gathering has grown into a major celebration featuring approximately 30 different games and activities. “It’s building a team mentality as the whole school to celebrate kids and really celebrate a day where we’re all together and we’re having a little bit of fun. It’s not all about school, it’s about the community as a whole,” said Fredrickson.
She adds that the carnival isn’t just about the fun and games. It’s part of Sartell’s annual Homecoming for a Cause tradition, where proceeds from activities support a selected charity. The 2025 beneficiary is Rayah, a 5th-grade student at Riverview Intermediate School who was diagnosed with leukemia over the summer.
Next week’s events include a coronation on Monday at 7:30 p.m., a tailgate on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., the carnival on Wednesday, a parade on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and conclude with a blacklight dance.
