(KNSI) – Minnesota’s regular waterfowl hunting season starts Saturday, September 27th.
According to the Department of Natural Resources, this year’s spring waterfowl counts looked better than last year overall. Their report shows a count of about 417,000 breeding ducks (not including scaup), which is 8% more than what they found in 2024. However, this number is still 32% lower than the average they’ve seen since they started keeping track back in 1968.
For those planning to hunt, the Minnesota Waterfowl Hunting Regulations booklet is available for all the details about required stamps, when the seasons run, and this year’s rules. The booklet can be picked up anywhere hunting and fishing licenses are sold, or find it online at the Minnesota DNR waterfowl hunting page here.
The season officially starts 30 minutes before sunrise.
