(KNSI) – Motorists should plan for delays and seek alternate routes as utility maintenance work will cause temporary lane closures on two streets in downtown St. Cloud.
On Tuesday, September 9th, the eastbound lanes of 1st Street North will be reduced from two lanes to one between 7th Avenue North and Veterans Bridge throughout the day. The work means the northbound lane of 5th Avenue North will be completely closed from West St. Germain to 1st Street North, with detour signs posted to redirect traffic.
City officials say the closure is necessary for planned utility work and is scheduled to last one day, weather permitting. Crews will begin work early Tuesday morning, with normal traffic patterns expected to resume by Wednesday.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider using alternate routes to avoid the affected areas during peak commuting hours.
