(KNSI) – Drivers on eastbound Highway 10 between Clear Lake and Big Lake should prepare for daytime construction delays due to chilly weather.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has rescheduled the planned nighttime roadwork due to the micro-surfacing treatment requiring air temperatures to stay above 50 degrees. The project involves using the treatment, a process that renews pavement surfaces, to seal minor cracks, ruts and other surface irregularities along the eastbound lanes from Highway 24 in Clear Lake to Lakeshore Drive in Big Lake.
The resurfacing is scheduled to continue through Sunday, September 7th, though it may extend into the next week, depending on the weather. Work will take place during off-peak daylight hours, weather permitting, with crews completing the job in segments. This means the work zone location will shift and change as the project progresses.
Drivers should expect single-lane closures, lane shifts and delays while traveling through the construction area. MnDOT advises motorists to plan extra time for their commutes and consider alternate routes when possible.
Once the initial resurfacing is complete, crews will pause work for two weeks to allow the new pavement to cure properly. Teams will return in late September to apply permanent lane striping and final pavement markings.
MnDOT says, when the project is finished, drivers can expect a noticeably smoother ride along this stretch of Highway 10 in Sherburne County.
