(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University has received a seven-figure gift nearly three decades in the making.
James and Marion Miller have been longtime supporters of the school, gifting over $3 million to SCSU in 1999. A portion of those funds was tied to a life insurance policy that would only be fulfilled when they had both died. That happened for James in 2021 and Marion earlier this year.
SCSU accepted $1.9 million from the policy recently. Interim President Larry Dietz says, “We’re touched by the thoughtfulness of the Millers to include SCSU in their arrangements.” He adds, “We are proud of the positive impact their philanthropy will have on current and future Huskies.”
The money is being divided up between the James W. Miller Family Scholarship, the Miller Scholar Program, and James W. Miller Family Technology Fund. The Miller Resources Center has been a part of campus for 25 years now.
The Millers sent three of their four children to SCSU, which helped spark the decades of support they provided.
