(KNSI) – Sartell announced Wednesday morning the future construction of a four-story hotel at LeSauk Drive and Evergreen Drive.
The Wyndham Garden Hotel will have 86 rooms, and it fills one of the priority needs identified by city leaders. Hotel space and childcare slots have been at the top of the list for years, frequently mentioned in interviews and addresses, such as the State of the City.
Mayor Ryan Fitzhum shared his excitement. “Sartell is experiencing an economic surge unlike anything we’ve seen since the housing boom of 2008. The addition of Wyndham Garden is a symbol of our city’s momentum. By welcoming more visitors to stay in Sartell, we’re creating the spark that will fuel new restaurants, wine bars, and gathering spaces our residents have been asking for. This project helps ensure that Sartell isn’t just growing- it’s becoming a destination.”
Developers submitted a building permit on August 25th at city hall. They hope to close on the property by mid-September, and the Sartell City Council will debate a subsidy package for the project at a meeting on the 22nd. The Wyndham Garden will be just the second hotel in the city of over 20,000 people.
Officials note that with the new Niron Magnetics facility and a growing youth sports scene that attracts families from all around the state, hotel rooms nearby will be crucial to sustaining recent economic growth. The hotel would act as a hub for future restaurants and other retail operations.
