(KNSI) — The St. Joseph City Council presented life saving awards recognizing community members and first responders who helped a man survive a medical emergency.

On June 26th, the St. Joseph Police Department, St. Joe Fire and Rescue, and Mayo Ambulance responded to a call about an unconscious man at Kwik Trip. When officers arrived, they saw multiple people already administering first aid and CPR to the victim, Bryan Becker. An AED was also on site and used to help in the rescue.

Crews arrived shortly after and used a LUCAS device on Becker. The device administers chest compressions, freeing up paramedics who rushed him to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital, where he has since made a full recovery.

The awards were presented at the August 18th city council meeting. Becker, along with members of his family, was in attendance for the ceremony.
