(KNSI) – It’s expected to be a howling good time when the Tri-County Humane Society holds its 37th annual Woofstock next month.

The animal shelter on St. Cloud’s east side encourages everyone to sign up by Monday, August 25th, to make sure they have their t-Shirt in time for the event. The groovy good time usually happens the first Saturday after Labor Day, but Development Manager Brianna Reinke told KNSI News it will be on Saturday, September 13th. “We moved it back a week later to accommodate the dogs that are coming, just for the weather, so it’s not so hot. But then, also, so, it doesn’t conflict with other large events that go on.” There is a large craft fair that usually happens after Labor Day, and the Humane Society doesn’t want to compete with it.

The event includes fun, far-out activities for the kids like bouncy houses, a search and rescue dog demonstration. The adults can enjoy live music, a silent auction, vendors, and something for every dog lover needing a little affection. “We’ll have a doggy kissing booth set up. So, you can come get some kisses from some dogs,” said Reinke.

Another popular event at Woofstock is the 60s and 70s costume contest. “We do encourage people to come dressed up. There is a costume contest for both adults and dogs taking place. People can wear their bell-bottoms, and they can dress their dogs up. Whatever they would like. And then, we’ll have a panel of judges ready to pick a winner.”

The organization hopes to raise $50,000 and is expecting around 200 people to take part.

Registration is $35, and people are encouraged to go out and ask for pledges to help fundraise. There are tools available to help people do that on the Tri-County Humane Society website. To register, click here.
