Northstar Link Buses Winding Down Earlier Than Initially Expected

(KNSI) – Northstar Link bus service is done at the end of the year, rather than waiting until the final game of the NFL season.

Officials had initially floated the idea of keeping the service and Northstar Rail going into the first weekend of January, which included a home game for the Vikings against their primary rival, the Green Bay Packers. The light rail system connects Big Lake and Elk River with stops in the Twin Cities. St. Cloud residents were bused to Big Lake as part of the route.

Going forward, Hennepin County will replace Northstar Rail with buses that run through the heart of the metro area. With Big Lake cut off from service, there is no need to keep the St. Cloud Northstar Link route.
